When you think of an iconic spring treat what comes to mind? Is it jelly beans, Reese’s Eggs, or Chocolate bunnies?
Well you thought wrong. In 1953, a candy was introduced to the world that would catch the spring lovers by surprise. Peeps, with a fluffy marshmallow consistency and a rough sugary coating, they quickly became a spring favorite. Now over the years, there are a ton of flavors that Peeps has introduced. So my friends and I decided to find the oddest flavors that we could and give them a try. The four flavors were Rice Krispies, Strawberry Poptart, Watermelon, and Dr.Pepper.
We started with Rice Krispies, after we all gave them all a try we found that the Strawberry Poptart was the best.
The worst flavor that we tried was easily the Dr. Pepper flavor. Not only was the flavor just a horrible idea from Peeps, we thought that a soda flavor would never be a good idea for a candy to try and imitate. so we put it at 2/10. The mix of the consistency and the flavor was an overall bad mix.
The flavor that is coming in at the three seed is the Watermelon flavor. Although the Watermelon flavor was a good idea and was executed better than the Dr.Pepper, the consistency of the Peep and the overly sugary flavoring was not a good mix. After just one bite we all decided that we would rate it at a 4/10.
Next up the no. 2 rated Peep is going to be the Rice Krispies. After we tried it, we found that it was a subtle yet very good flavor. The consistency and the flavoring are a good combination, so we decided to put it at a 7/10.
Now finally the moment you have been waiting for. The best Peep. After trying all four of the Peeps when it came to deciding the best flavor, it was a no-brainer. The Strawberry Poptart was by far the best Peep. The mix of flavoring and consistency is just as close to the original Peep as you can get so we rated it a 9/10.
After this experience, we’re anxious to try some more flavors of Peeps.
